Seeking a quiet space for your child to play chess and practice with other young players?
All skill levels are welcome. Student sets will be available on a first-come, first-served basis to share, or you may choose to bring your own set.
Please note that this is intended for school-aged children in 1st grade and above who can be quiet and respectful, in keeping with the spirit of the game.
Younger siblings will not be allowed, as we have a designated children's room and play area that they can utilize while older siblings are attending the program. If caregivers wish to attend and observe, please make alternative arrangements for any younger siblings in your care.
Local high school students who are members of their respective school chess clubs are also invited to attend and share their teaching skills to earn volunteer hours. Please contact Nicole Farrell, Children's Librarian, to learn about the volunteer sign-up process.
